Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

InQik GBP Inspector (“the Extension”) is developed and maintained by InQik (“we”, “us”, “our”), a business registered at 304, 3rd Floor, Sai Harsha Pearl Aura, Near MOS Church, Udupi 576101, KA, IN.

This privacy policy explains what data the Extension accesses, how it is used, and your rights.

2. Data We Access

The Extension reads publicly visible information on Google Maps business listing pages that you navigate to. This includes:

• Business name, categories, and description
• Address, phone number, and website URL
• Review ratings, review text, and review counts
• Business hours and open/closed status
• Business attributes and amenities
• Photo metadata (counts, not the images themselves)
• Google Posts presence
• Popular Times data (if displayed)
• Coordinates and Place ID (from the page URL)

This data is already visible to any user visiting the same Google Maps page. The Extension simply reads and organizes it for analysis.

3. Data We Do NOT Collect

The Extension does NOT:

• Collect, store, or transmit any personal information
• Track your browsing history or activity
• Use cookies, analytics, or advertising frameworks
• Access any pages other than Google Maps business listings
• Send any data to external servers for core functionality
• Use any Google APIs (it reads only the visible page)
• Record keystrokes, form data, or authentication tokens

All data processing happens entirely within your browser. No data leaves your device for the core inspection features.

4. Optional Email Collection

If you voluntarily provide your email address (for example, to subscribe to optimization tips on our welcome page), the following applies:

• Your email is transmitted via encrypted HTTPS to InQik's servers
• It is stored securely and used only to send the content you requested
• You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email
• You can request deletion by emailing privacy@inqik.com
• We will never sell, rent, or share your email with third parties

5. Local Storage

The Extension uses Chrome's local storage API (chrome.storage.local) to save your preferences, such as dismissed notifications. This data never leaves your browser and contains no personal information.

6. Permissions

The Extension requests only the following permissions:

• Host permissions (Google Maps domains only): To read the visible content of business listing pages for analysis
• sidePanel: To display the analysis in Chrome's built-in side panel
• activeTab: To detect when you are on a Google Maps page
• storage: To save your non-personal preferences locally

No broader permissions are requested. The Extension cannot access other websites, your browsing history, or any data outside of Google Maps pages.

7. Data Retention

No user data is retained beyond the current browsing session. When you close the tab or navigate away, all parsed data is discarded from memory. Optional email data (if provided) is retained until you request deletion.

8. Children's Privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

9. Google API Services Compliance

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted at this URL with an updated date. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance.
